๐ŸŒŸ From Spreadsheets to Success - Launch a Career That Goes Beyond the Numbers

Iโ€™m Cao Minh. I help students, new graduates, and early-career accountants thrive in this ever-changing industry. Forget just crunching numbers. Today, you need to be a business partner, master data-driven storytelling, and be comfortable with AI and automation that are transforming how we report and deliver advice.

I have been in the higher education and government sectors for more than 6 years, and achieved promotions twice by seeing past the spreadsheets. Think sharper reporting, slick financial models, and breaking down variances and trends so the senior leaders get the full story.

Now I help students:

๐Ÿ“„ Craft Standout CVs: Go beyond "ticking boxes" to showcase true value.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Master Interviews: Gain confidence for everything from internships to promotion rounds.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Navigate Career Paths: Explore management reporting, financial management, and business partnering.

๐Ÿ“Š Financial Modelling: Learn the best practices to build robust models designed for real-world decision-making.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Communicate with Impact: Learn to explain complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders.

๐Ÿ“ฉ Feel free to get in touch to discuss where you're at and how I can best support you. I can be reached at caominh1701@gmail.com or 0470152473.

My Philosophy: I will show you how I did it and how the top performers I know did it. However, I want to be clear: I cannot guarantee you a job. If you are starting from scratch, I will show you the path, but you have to be the one to walk it. I provide the tools and the blueprint, and you put in the effort.

Pay it forward: I have intentionally kept my coaching packages accessible for students and new grads - as a way to give back and support the next generation of accountants.

๐Ÿ“ Management Accountant โ†’ Senior Management Accountant, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (2024โ€“Present)

At Ahpra, I work with senior stakeholders (National Boards of health professions) to turn complex financial data into practical insights that support smarter decisions. From forecasting budgets to analysing trends, I help tell the story behind the numbers in a way that is clear and actionable.

I was promoted in my second year after being recognised for improving our financial reporting and contributing to decisions that directly impact how public health is regulated. I also lead projects to streamline processes and make finance more efficient, user-friendly, and genuinely helpful - because good finance should enable, not overwhelm.

I am leading an effort to improve how monthly and quarterly financial results are presented to the National Boards. By developing a highly user-friendly and maintainable Power BI report, I am directly replacing an outdated ERP system function and prioritising clear, modern reporting standards.

๐Ÿ“ Graduate Accountant โ†’ Accountant, University of Tasmania (2020โ€“2024)

I began at UTAS as a Graduate Accountant and was promoted after demonstrating I could manage financial reporting for over 100 research projects worth more than $10 million, while working closely with senior researchers and professors.

One project I am proud of: I collaborated with a Senior Finance Analyst to create an interactive dashboard, making it easy for researchers to track funding and expenses without needing to decode spreadsheets. I also redesigned reserve tracking reports, helping business managers make clearer funding decisions.

Beyond research, I supported financial modelling for new course proposals - bringing data to the table to shape academic decisions.
